Hobocomp v2.0
Paul, the benefactor of the original hobocomp has been generous enough to provide yet another motherboard/cpu/ram combination to the hobocomp project. I have used the power supply and hard drive from the first hobocomp, and I will leave the temporary hobocomp running from my linen closet for a short time.
Paul was also generous enough to include a cardboard box in the deal, and I have modified its filters to fit my needs:
The software is mostly the same as before, as it's running off the same 250GB hard drive. Cooling is always a concern in projects like this (along with electrical grounding and shielding), but I am hoping that the large CPU heatsink and strategically cut holes will keep the temperature low.
Below is a picture of hobocomp running. Of course, since there is no monitor attached to it, the only way of knowing it is running is the fan and ethernet LED. It also plays a measure of Hail to the Victors upon startup, for diagnostic purposes.
